Occupational English Test

OET is an international English language test that assesses the language communication skills of Medical Doctors, Nurses, Dentists and Pharmacists who seek to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. The OET is flexible in learning for Health workers as the content is health related.

English Assessment Tests

There are four versions of the OET: the OET Doctor, OET Nurse, OET Dentist and OET Pharmacists.

OET Doctor

The test for Doctors assess the proficiency of the candidate’s knowledge in the practice of medicine as a doctor. The assessment borders on the detail aspects of medicine, diagnosis, prescription, health information communication, health facility management practices among other vital aspects required of the medical practice.
OET Nurse

The test for Nurses seeks to assess the proficiency of the candidate’s conduct in an operational space of a Nurse. The assessment borders on the expansive aspects of what is required of a Nurse relating to patient handling, administration of medication and referral handling modalities along other aspects of the duties of a Nurse.
OET Dentist

The test for Dentist assess the proficiency of the candidate’s reading, writing, listening and Speaking Skills as required in providing dental healthcare to patients. The assessment borders on detailed knowledge in dental health, proficiency in dental tools, procedures and medications along other aspects of the functions of a Dentist.
OET Pharmacist

The test for Pharmacists assess the proficiency and efficiency of the candidate’s attention to detail, thoroughness in drug and medication development and application among other vital proficiency required of a Pharmacist. The assessment covers detailed knowledge in drug usage, storage, dispensation and best practices for drug management.

OET is required for health practitioners who wish to practice in Australia, Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Wales and Scotland. Chances of gaining access to employment as a health worker is of high magnitude as against a potential candidate without the certification. It is also a requirement for immigration to Australia, Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Wales and Scotland. An OET result or Test Report is valid for two years.
